Earth Day is on April 22nd, but we will celebrate on Sunday, April 21st.
This hike will be along the beach and over the headland to the point just before the big railway tunnels going through Battle Bluff. There is a bit of a scramble up and over the headland and hiking will be along the rocky shores. And we will have to find a log crossing for getting across Tranquille Creek.
Lunch will be hikers choice on what they want to roast over a beach fire. Bring hot dogs, bratwurst, marshmallows or whatever. Bring your small camp chair.
To honour Earth Day, we will be collecting plastic and styrofoam garbage along the route. Any plastic or garbage we can remove will not eventually end up in the ocean, which is a good thing. Please bring a garbage bag of some sort to gather all the garbage we can.
Meet up at the Aviation Way Dog Park at 9:30am to arrange carpooling. Please note the road into the Cooney Bay parking lot is awful!
It can be windy, so be prepared for the weather of the day.

Cooney Bay – Celebrate Earth Day — 1 Comment
Due to weather forecast of 30kph winds, gusting to 50kph, AND, apparently there is a fire somewhere in the bay. The outing may be just a nice beach walk, with some garbage collection. No fire. Please bring your usual lunch and be prepared for a gusty, windy day.
