Description
Come with us on a 5km hike to the Painted Bluffs. A small protected area of geological significance on the north shore of Kamloops Lake.
Meet at the Hillside meetup spot to arrange carpool and convoy from there to the trailhead. The drive out is about an hour, mostly in the backroads.
Note about the drive: The Sabiston Creek Road can be muddy in the early season and it is definitely a backroad – a good gravel road usually, but in shoulder season not as good.
The hike will start on the Copper Creek Road. Doug Smith will drive his truck that day and show the group which way to go and where to park.
All routes into the Park require some navigation and there are sections when the route seems to have no trail.
It is tick season. Be prepared.
Once at the foot of the bluffs, we will stop for lunch and explore around a little.
Once we return to the vehicles, we’ll continue on the backroads through Red Lake and Criss Cross Creek road making a full Loop. The return route is an hour.
