KHC has 200 members and tries to balance the number of members with the number of event spaces available.
2024 Membership Registration:
- Membership Renewals (for current members) is now open for the new 2024/25 Club year. Click on the “Renew” button on the Home Page to renew your membership.
- Registration for New Memberships has been delayed from February 15th to March 1st, due a system problem. On March 1st, a “Registration” button will appear on the Home screen. Click on the button to start your new member registration.
- Membership was capped at 200 members.
- KHC Annual Memberships for 2024 will be from March 1st, 2024 to Feb. 28, 2025.
New Member Registration (General Information)
- Registration for new members will be open starting on March 1st, 2024.
FYI Only:.
- Once all 3 registration steps (online form, online waiver, payment of fees) are completed, registrants will be contacted through the email address you provide.
- Many of our email communications are automated so if you have a legacy email system like Hotmail, MSN, etc., the emails may end up in a spam or junk folder. We use internet mail which works fine with all modern email systems.
- Volunteers do the registration work, so they need time to process the many waivers, registration forms, and payments as well as set up all the new accounts.
- New members will have a website account set up for them and the email we will send to you will have your login and temporary password (remember your login name). Although you can recover a forgotten password, you need to remember your login name (or the email address you have registered). If you can’t log in, you can’t register for our events.
- Memberships are for a year
- Registration fees are $35/year.
- A new waiver is required each year.
- All events are posted by our volunteer hike leaders.
- We can recommend Kamloops Outdoor Club as an alternative for interested hikers if KHC is not a good match for you, or if you have missed the membership deadlines.
Full Membership Benefits
- A user account on the website – allows online bookings for all events (that are not yet full), online cancellations, the ability to post comments, and manage your account
- Participation in guided group hikes.
- Participation in other events – backpacking, camps, kayaking, snowshoeing, workshops, etc.
- Membership in the Federation of Mountain Clubs of BC ($8 per member) & a liability insurance program ($14 per member) are both included
- Email communications/newsletters
- Social events
- Discounts at local stores
- Meet like-minded people on our scheduled outings
- Network with other hikers to set up your own outings
- Explore new areas, trails, and routes not found in hiking guides.
Notes:
- We want to minimize admin responsibilities for the hike leader so we do not collect any forms, fees, etc., at events.
- Members need to sign our Club Waiver online prior to the first event of the season, then annually thereafter. No Waiver, No Hike (no exceptions).
- Many of our events fill up, so timely registration is advised. We do not keep waiting lists. Watch for cancellations or the next event to be listed.
- Perspective members should review KHC Guidelines and Expectations before making the decision to join. Every year we get new members who join but never come out to hike with us.
- KHC has only individual adult memberships (no special rates or membership categories for couples, or families)
- KHC permits dogs at some events on a limited basis. Each hike leader determines if dogs will come to that event or not and this will be indicated in the event listing.
- KHC is an active club run by volunteers who do their best to provide a good experience for everyone, but all members have a part to play in support of the club’s success.
