Website Update
We have been responding to enquiries, requests, and bugs, as the arise. An update is provided at this time:
- Event Listing
A new field has been added – Pace. This allows hike leaders to specify how fast the hike may be. The default is na (not applicable), but leaders can also choose Easy, Moderate, Steady or Brisk. Leaders can set the pace at the outset and members can review the pace to see if it meets their fitness level.
2. Events Display
We have changed the website front page display to keep the event to one column (not two). This prevents event sections from being split and at the same time, it s better for viewing on mobile phones. It does make the list longer, requiring scrolling down more. Some color and font shifts were also made to make it easier to see the details.
3. Past Events
Past events cannot be seen by members, although hike leaders can go to an interactive listing (Dashboard > Events > Toggle to past events). From our research, it appears that this is part of a recent update provided by the developer. We will need another app (at a cost) to make past events accessible on the front end.
4. Event Categories
Some event categories are self-explanatory, but others may require explanation. Event categories are defined on the website – Categories.
5. Event Difficulty
Hike leaders are encouraged to include information on the event difficulty (Easy, Moderate, Moderate-Harder, Harder, Difficult, na) on the event listing and to also include info on the Pace and distance to be covered. The three together provide information on whether the event is right for you (or not).
6. Cancellation of Bookings
This was fixed, thanks to Doug Morris, who found a discrepancy in the time formatting of events and bookings. We can all go to the My Bookings page to cancel a booking.
7. Kamloops Adopt-a-Trail Program
Information on KHC’s participation on the program is now on the website – link
8. Website Updates
Some minor updates are ongoing, with most self-explanatory. Contact us if you require clarification.
