Description
This will be a weekend hiking event in the alpine area of Sun Peaks. It will only go ahead if the air quality and weather is good enough. This will be my 3rd, Carole’s 2nd time hiking at Sun Peaks this year. The trails have been in great shape the times we have been there this year. A week ago the lupines and paint brush were beginning to bloom and the fireweed is getting close to blooming.
Our planned route will be from mid mountain to trail 1 – 7 – summit – Tod Lake – 10 – 5 – back to mid mountain, this will be a 12 km hike with about 400 meters elevation. We will hike at a moderate pace allowing time to enjoy the views and take photos of the amazing scenery. After the hike, we can decide if we want to stop and have a beverage and something to eat at one of the many places at Sun Peaks. Dress for the conditions, bring a lunch, lots of water, your hiking essentials, bears and bugs could be present.
Due to the risk of smokey skies, I would suggest not buying lift tickets until Saturday, watching the air quality, or pay the extra and buy tickets Sunday morning at Sun Peaks (I believe KHC members get 5% off the ticket price) I could be wrong. We will meet at the Sun Peaks lift area at 10:00 am, Sunday morning. Those that want to car pool can contact each other for arrangements.
