Overview

KHC is a registered Society with a constitution and bylaws that requires a board & several support individuals to help support the website and club.  The success of our club can be credited to the hard work of our volunteers, the positive attitude of our members, and the natural beauty of Canada.

Board of Director Positions

President

  • The President is the chair of the Board and is responsible for supervising the other directors in the execution of their duties.

 

Vice President

  • The Vice-President of the Board and is responsible for carrying out the duties of the President if the President is unable to act. In addition, the Vice-President will:
    • provide support to other Board members in their duties
    • assist with addressing member concerns and inquiries
    • assist in writing the monthly newsletter, as requested

 

Secretary

  • The Secretary is responsible for doing, or making the necessary arrangements for, the following:
    • taking minutes of board meetings
    • vendor liaison

 

Treasurer

  • The Treasurer is responsible for doing, or making the necessary arrangements for, the following:
    • receiving and banking monies collected from the members or other sources
    • keeping accounting records in respect of the Society’s financial transactions
    • preparing the Society’s financial statements
    • making the Society’s filings respecting taxes
    • keeping the records of the Society in accordance with the Act
    • filing the annual report of the Society

 

Member and Hike Leader Liaison

  • The Member Liaison is responsible for fielding inquiries from club members and helping new members.
  • the Board will ensure there is ongoing Communication and support for/with Hike Leaders

 

Directors at Large

  • The Directors at Large are responsible for supporting other board members where/as needed.

 

IT Director:

  • The IT Director is responsible for doing the following:
    • liaison between the board and tech support (Webmaster, Registration Specialist, IT Support Specialists & Social Media Support Specialists)
    • website support & maintenance

 

Additional Support Positions

Hike Leaders plan, organize & post events for the club & have completed the Hike Leader training program.  For additional information check out the Hike Leader Program & Resources.

The following individuals help support the KHC Website, the annual renewal & registration process and the 3 Facebook sites.

Webmasters

  • The Webmasters maintains the KHC website, ensuring the site is functioning properly and is available to members and the public.
    • Manages the Web Hosting account, installation, backups
    • Website maintenance – updates, debugging & resolving issue as well as documenting & updating impacted members & hike leaders
    • Management of Website content – pages, posts, widgets, links, media library, events, locations, etc.
    • Manage Website standards (similar to an editor/publisher) & ensure website meets the club’s needs
    • Manage user accounts (in consultation with data services) & access (admin, hike leader, etc.)
    • Manage Social media accounts and interfaces
    • Technical support services as needed

 

Registration Specialist

  • The Registration Specialist is responsible for handling club renewals & registration which occur in February:
    • adding the icons/buttons to the website for the renewal process
    • working with the Treasure to ensure that registration payment is processed
    • entering new and returning members into the system
    • ensuring that waivers are received/stored

 

IT Support Specialists

  • The IT Support Specialists are responsible for answering technical questions sent to websitehelp@kamloopshiking.net.  In addition, training & support on using the website is provided to the Hike Leaders when updates/changes/issues occur.

 

Social Media Support Specialists

  • The Social Media Support Specialists are responsible for the following:
    • Answering questions on the Kamloops Hiking Facebook page
    • Adding members to the Kamloops Hiking Club Members Only Facebook page
    • Taking pictures from the Kamloops Hiking Club Members Only Facebook page and adding them to Kamloops Hiking Facebook page which make them automatically appear on the Website
    • Putting together some videos/slideshows for the club with event pictures
