First, a hike up the Stein River Valley in Stein Valley (Nlakapamux) Heritage Park in Spring.
- An early start (meetup tba) or meet at the Lytton Ferry two hours later
- Take the Reaction Ferry across the Fraser River
- Drive to the trailhead
- Hike up the trail along the river
- Lunch at a spot near the river, then hike back
- A longer day, but a very scenic one
- Stein Valley Park website (link)
- Stein River Hike (Kamloopstrails – link)
Overnight in Boston Bar (make your own arrangements). There are also campgrounds and BBs nearby (in the Lytton – Yale – Hope corridor). Dinner social.
- Meet for breakfast
- Drive to Alexandra Bridge Provincial Park
- Do the short hike to the bridge and back
- Drive south to Yale
- Hike the Spirit Caves trail (7 km)
- Info – Spirit Caves
- Participants can skip the first day and meet us in Boston Bar or Yale (comment)
- Drive to Hope, gas up, have lunch, then go up the Coquihalla Highway
- Stop at the Othello Tunnels Trail – short hike and a scenic spot
- Drive back to Kamloops, but there are other possible (but optional) short hikes – Ladner Trestle, Falls Lake, etc.
- Hikes are planned for the rest of the year, with some to be listed on the KHC site. The full list is updated regularly – link.
To be done in the interim:
- Think about carpooling or convoying.
- Think about Day 1only or Day 2 or both.
- Accommodation – There are 3 motels in the area and some campgrounds and maybe some BnBs (an alternate could be Hope). I will be booking my accommodation closer to the date.
- We will stick with these dates but in the last week if there is poor weather forecast, think about alternate dates or cancelling.
- Although I have chosen 4 hikes, not everyone has to do all of them.
- Hikers are asked to moderate their voices so that other hikers can enjoy the sounds of nature while out hiking. There is a Hiking Etiquette Policy found as a link in the KHC Guidelines and Expectations.
- Bookings are now available. Registrants can cancel if it will not work out.

This event is a “go.” I added some extra information, and we can plan more closer to the date,
