Our May Rambles
On May 1st we hiked a trails route on the lower slopes of Greenstone Mountain. Twelve of us hiked for 9.3 km (3 hours) through the forest and out to rocky viewpoints.
On May 3rd we hiked the Stein River Trail, a 15 km hike in about 4.5 hours. The route is across the Fraser River, using the Reaction Ferry at Lytton. Four of us took the all-day venture to Stein Valley Provincial Park.
On May 6th, the hike was up Mara Mountain from the northeast. This is an annual hike, a 8 km cross-country route which usually takes 3.5 hours inc. lunch at the wonderful viewpoint on Mara Mountain.
On May 10, we hiked to Moul and McDiarmid Falls in Wells Gray Park. This was a 9.5 km hike taking about 4 hours with outstanding views of the falls.
On May 15 we hiked the Dewdrop Trail up the Red Plateau Escarpment. A steep 9.3 km hike for 6 hikers up to the viewpoint and back (about 3.5 hours).
On May 29, we hiked up Sunrise Mountain. A steep 5 km hike (460m elevation gain) for 11 hikers, taking about 2.5 hours.
