The prime season for hiking is underway so hikers are traveling to destinations to camp, backpack, and day hike.    Events in July were to hiking locations chosen by hike leaders – the Monashee Mountains, Coquihalla Summit, the Selkirk Mountains, and the Rocky Mountains.    More destination hikes are planned for August to the Coquihalla Summit and Wells Gray Park (so far).    In addition KHC events have been regularly posted for local hikes, a few of which require specific hike leader knowledge.     Our thanks to hike leaders John, Carole, Erika, Kevin, Sheila, Monika, Roy, Darlene, Doug, and co-leaders who supported the outings.

During the holiday season, hike leaders and members are often away from home base so less events and less registration is a normal part of the yearly cycle, but this summer has had more activity than previous summers.    Thanks to all.

New members continue to join the Club as we “spread the word” though social media.    Welcome to Don, Terry, Tim, Teresa, Rowan, and Bryon.

The collaborative group of Board members and hike leaders have maintained operations for the club – membership, finance, website, communications, tech support, and promotions.    Our thanks to our KHC Board and KHC Hike Leaders.

Over time, KHC has gradually increased its social media profiles.    Our thanks to KHC members who post photos to social media.    We can then share these to social media.    Current KHC social media pages can be seen from links on the website (Menu Bar > KHC Social Media > choose one of the links).   Special thanks to our VP Denise for managing these for us.

We have been doing ongoing work on the website, tweaking interactive features, updating pages, and making adjustments as needed.    Summaries of relevant changes are usually posted to the News widget on the right sidebar.   All of this work noted above is done by volunteers, by some of the same people who lead hikes.

KHC has a list of events which are in the category called Draft/Tentative.    The location, date, and details are proposed, but they can be adjusted according to the interests of members, organized by the hike leader, based on discussions with members.  Some of the proposed events disappear if there is no interest, some are adjusted by request, and some proceed as proposed if there is sufficient interest expressed.
