Wildfire smoke is an issue, but I have been out hiking and paddling almost every day by using a website provided by Canada which predicts the amount of smoke in any area up to 48 hours in advance. Go to https://firesmoke.ca to see the map. Use the slider to show the conditions hour by hour on the map. I just go in the direction of the least smoke. In general, the smoke is heaviest in the valleys and clearer up higher.
All location pages were updated to take out broken links and outdated information.
I’d like to thank all the Club members who hiked with me on some of the many events that I led over a number of years. I was rewarded with support and patience on many routes, in varying conditions, and with some challenges at times. All in, it was a very positive experience for me.
At this age it is time to move to another chapter. I will continue to hike, paddle, and snowshoe every day, but they will be either a solo outing or with a small group, moving quietly, enjoying nature, and finding new places to explore, or old ones to revisit. Anyone interested in these ongoing daily outings can find out more on https://rambleon.ca
Ciao.
