Wildfire smoke is an issue, but I have been out hiking and paddling almost every day by using a website provided by Canada which predicts the amount of smoke in any area up to 48 hours in advance. Go to https://firesmoke.ca to see the map. Use the slider to show the conditions hour by hour on the map. I just go in the direction of the least smoke. In general, the smoke is heaviest in the valleys and clearer up higher.
