KHC Newsletter – November 1, 2026
A huge thank you is given to each of our hike leaders who generously give of their time, energy, and enthusiasm to lead hikes for our club. As a volunteer-driven organization, our club depends on people who are willing to step forward, share their knowledge, and plan adventures. Your contributions make it possible for our members to explore new trails, challenge themselves, enjoy good company and build friendships/community. Some of our hike leaders are currently on holidays or busy with the Christmas Season activities or waiting for snow to lead some snowshoe adventures….keep checking the website for events, some will be last minute!
One of our founding members and long time hike leader, Doug Smith will remain a member but is stepping away from actively leading hikes. His knowledge of the trails can be found on our website – check out the link “Ramble On” (can be found under Club Info – KHC links). The Board wishes to give a heartfelt thank you for sharing his time and knowledge while leading a hike or while hiking with him on a trail as well as his time and contribution as a Board Member and our IT guru.
Member Etiquette:
On the website, under Club Info – Guidelines & Expectations, there is information for all members to review. This month, the Board would like to highlight Event Registrations & Cancellations.
To help our volunteer Event Leaders plan and ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to participate, please review the event information, register before attending and cancel as early as possible if your plans change. Cancellations must be made through the Manage Bookings at least an hour before the event meet time. Website Hint: If using your phone and are under manage bookings, your phone needs to be turned sideways to see and access the cancellation field on the far right hand side.
While using the comments section is encouraged, it often does not notify the hike leader. The hike leader’s cell phone number and/or email is generally listed in the Event Info.
If attending the event, please try and be at the Meet Up Location 10 minutes prior to the time listed. It allows the leader and members to introduce one another and sort out car pool options. Thank you for respecting fellow members and our volunteer Leaders!
SAVE THE DATE for the Winter Holiday Social
