π Trophy Meadows Overnight Backpack β Wells Gray Park
Date is subject to weather.
π Meet at Paul Lake Meetup Location at 8:00 AM Sat Aug 15th. Carpool to Trophy Meadows trailhead in Wells Gray Provincial Park (approx. 2.5β3 hours drive).
Sat β Trophy Meadows Trail to Sheila Lake
Begin at the Trophy Meadows trailhead and hike approximately 6.5 km one-way, gaining moderate elevation through lush subalpine meadows. We’ll set up camp at Sheila Lake, where there are 20 designated tent pads and established backcountry camping areas.
Sun β Return Hike
After a relaxing alpine morning, weβll pack up and retrace our route back to the trailhead, another 6.5 km.
Optional: If the group is feeling adventurous and weather allows, we may add an out-and-back detour toward Trophy Mountain Ridge (5km challenging out and back from Sheila Lake) or Long Hill (3.5km Moderate out and back from Sheila Lake).
π What to Bring:
Backpacking gear (tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, stove, food)
Weather-appropriate clothing (layers for alpine weather)
Water (and filtration/purification system)
Bag to store food in bear bins.
Hiking poles (recommended)
Bug spray and sunscreen
Headlamp or flashlight
Basic first aid and emergency supplies
Note: This is a self-supported trip. All participants must be prepared for backcountry camping and travel in changing mountain weather conditions.

Yes of course. If I can let you know when a cancellation happens, I will. Maybe both of us should keep checking back as I’m not always notified ahead of time of cancellations? I am overbooked already by 1. There are limited tent pads at this location and we are unable to prebook them. Hence the limited spots.

For sure, you’re second on the waitlist. I’ve confirmed, you can only camp on the 20 pads for this site, and they are not reservable. So I’m fearful to make the group larger than it is. But I’ll keep you on the waitlist π
