The traverse is about 9km in total. We’ll start with a steep, challenging climb of switchbacks for the first 1.5km and 350 meters of elevation gain. The summit and ridgeline features panoramic views west over Blind Bay, the South Shuswap, Squilax, and Chase in the distance. Once the lookout is reached we’ll then traverse over Blind Bay Ridge, Upper North Trail, and Ridge Trail to end at the Balmoral trailhead.

We will leave a vehicle(s) at the Balmoral trailhead and start hiking from the McArthur trailhead.

Directions to trailheads:

To the Balmoral trailhead, drive approximately 80km from Kamloops and 9 km east of Sorrento,  turning north onto Balmoral Rd at the Balmoral store (Chevron). Follow for about 1.5km and turn right at the large blue trailhead parking lot.

The McArthur Heights trailhead is another 6.5km or 10 minutes further. Follow Balmoral road onto Eagle Bay road, turn right onto Reedman Point road and then left onto McBride road. At the end of McBride is the trailhead.
