The Lundbom grasslands near Merritt are beautiful in June, usually lush with wildflowers. For more info, have a look at Doug Smith’s article here.
This is an approximate 10km hike through grasslands, open forest and small lakes to reach Sugarloaf hill, with views over the Nicola valley. There is double track and singletrack. Elevation gain is around 350m. 3.5 -4 hrs on trail.
Bring a lunch, plenty of water, sun protection, and the usual essentials. Mosquitos may be out!
We will meet at the parking near Dufferin Elementary School and arrange carpooling there to leave by 8:30. Please bring some cash for the drivers if sharing a ride. It is just over an hour drive to the trailhead, past Merritt.

Hi Sasha,
thank you for leading this hike.
i’m thinking that Lori, Joyce and I will carpool from Savona and meet you at the trail head rather than detour thru town. My question is whether I can bring my dog, Gustav.
Please let me know.
