Description
In 2023, the Bush Creek East wildfire burned through the south Shuswap, destroying sections of the Mount Baldy Lookout Trail system. With support from the Province of British Columbia’s Disaster Financial Assistance program, the trail was restored. As of September 8, 2026 the trail was officially reopened, following extensive post-wildfire restoration including danger tree removal, trail reroutes, landslide and debris-flow assessments, new signage, and the repair/replacement of wooden boardwalks and bridges.
This hike offers a unique opportunity to witness a variety of fire effects and the forest’s natural recovery.

We hiked this trail on Oct. 6th and the trail is now in good shape.

Great to hear. I will likely scout out the trail prior to check for any blowdown or hazard trees.
