Stay Safe Outdoors: Awareness & Preparedness for BC Adventures. Webinar hosted by FMCBC & BC AdventureSmart on Wednesday, June 24, 6-7:30 PM.

We’re excited to welcome Sandra Riches, Executive Director of BC AdventureSmart, for an engaging and informative webinar focused on outdoor safety, mountain awareness, and the realities of search and rescue in BC. Participants will learn how preparation, awareness, and decision-making can help prevent emergencies in the backcountry.

The webinar will also explore current search and rescue statistics, common trends among outdoor incidents, and practical tips to help hikers, riders, and outdoor enthusiasts enjoy BC’s outdoors safely and responsibly.

Sandra has dedicated more than 30 years to outdoor recreation management, beginning her career as a BC Parks ranger in 1992. For the past 20 years, she has led BC AdventureSmart, working closely with BC’s 78 search and rescue groups, made up of more than 3,200 volunteers, along with industry partners and stakeholders across the province. Sandra is passionate about building outdoor safety awareness and helping reduce the impact on search and rescue while strengthening BC’s outdoor safety culture.
