๐ Meetup Location:

๐ Trip Overview:
Saturday, August 1ย โ Travel Day
Weโll drive from Kamloops to Valemount and check into our accommodations. You’re responsible for booking your own lodging, but we can coordinate to stay near each other (hotel, motel, campsiteโyour choice).
Sunday, August 2ย โ Hike Day
An early start! Weโll begin the Mount Terry Fox hike at 8:00 AM sharp. This is a challenging 16.7 km out-and-back route with a loop at the summit, gaining 1,489 metres of elevation. Expect a full day on trailโplan for 8+ hours including lunch, breaks, and plenty of awe-inspiring photo stops.
This route features alpine ridges, dramatic views, and a sense of sacred connection to the spirit of perseverance and purpose. Be prepared for a long, demanding, and unforgettable trek.
Monday, August 3 (BC Day) โ Drive Home
We’ll take our time heading back to Kamloops, sore but inspired.
๐ What to Bring:
- Full day hiking gear
- Sturdy boots (this oneโs no joke!)
- Weather-appropriate clothing (layers for the alpine, rain shell)
- Food, lunch, snacks, and 2+ litres of water
- Hiking poles (highly recommended)
- First aid and emergency supplies
- Bear spray
- Headlamp (just in case)
- Overnight bag for your Valemount stay
This hike takes place on the homeland of the Simpcw First Nation, part of the Secwรฉpemc Nation, and also touches the traditional territory of the Lheidli Tโenneh. We walk these trails in respect, recognizing their deep connection to the land long before it carried the name Mount Terry Fox.
Mount Terry Fox is a symbol. A monument to determination, grit, and belief in something bigger than ourselves. In 1980, Terry Fox ran a marathon every day on one leg. We will hike just one, tough, demanding, beautiful trail in his honour. Letโs climb for the reminder that ordinary people can do extraordinary things.
